I use a lot of their products on a work related basis so I figured I can't go wrong at home with them either. I got this set to replace an aging set on the kitchen door to the garage. The door and deadbolt are both of good quality build. I have a couple of issues though. The instructions basically non-existent in that you get a page for each item but they only have simplistic 1 sentence statements that are lacking. Luckily you get the template for drilling and I already understand enough to install them with the template on my own. The other issue was that the packet, maybe just this particular packet was missing the two short machine screws for the doorknob. The deadbolt machine screws were in the pack and I was not in the mood to wait for a replacement set so luckily, the old machine screws in the old doorknob worked so they went back into the new one. I still recommend this product if you have some experience installing... These work like a lock set should. I found out later from a locksmith that the first one's had been pulled from the market. Apparently they left some at Lowe's where I purchased them. Here's how to tell if they will fail: on the cylinder, the round thing your key enters, there will be a stamped cross just above the key entrance. I took them to the locksmith and he said it's called a "quick key" and they can't be repaired because they use plastic parts inside. Foreign. I called Schlage to see if they would replace them. They never returned my calls. I couldn't return them because the widow had lost the receipt. These only worked for about 4 weeks of intermittent use before the key wouldn't turn the cylinder. JUNK! These new ones seem to be OK. Probably the LAST time I'll buy Schlage, and they are going to KNOW about it.
