The too long didn't read synapses is thus: Installed Oct 2013. ( - ) takes too long to respond to touch (almost faster to pull normal key out to unlock) ( - ) Calibration has been an issue from the start: door locks with no fob anywhere near unit. Has resulted in being locked out of house. ( - ) WAY too easy to brush against lock and unitentionally activate it. Even after living with the lock for two years and knowing this annoyance, it still happens at least once a week on me. And always happens with guests, who proceed to slam the door shut as though the deadbolt were not extended. Horrible feature that could have been easily engineered around. ( - ) Must purchase additional e-keys ( - ) Additional e-key users must register through Kwikset. Real PITA for guests who just want to download the darn app and use it to open the door like a normal key. Tis not family friendly. And,... Thank you for your feedback regarding the additional charge for eKeys beyond the 2 eKeys that come included with the Kevo unit. We have sent and will continue to send an additional 5 eKeys to all of those who have or will purchase a Kevo unit before 12/1/13. These additional 5 eKeys will be automatically credited to the Owner account who initially set up the Kevo unit to their Smart device.
Also - if you remove Kevo's interior cover you will notice 4 small switches in the bottom right hand corner. Switch 1 controls the status LED. This flashing light communicates whether the door is locked or unlocked and flashes red for a low battery alert. This function can be turned on and off by the position of Switch 1.

It seemed to be what I was looking for, remote access that I can grant and take away with ease, no more key in my pocket, manage online and ensure security of my door. I even went to the product website to read up and understand more about the product. I thought I knew what I was getting into. Turns out they left a few things out. First, is how fussy the lock is with the location of your phone. If you stand a reasonable distance from the door, you can expect it to work occasionally. Even after multiple calibrations I can't stand more than 6-12 inches from the door to open it, even then it is not 100%. I have a brand new iPhone so it is not due to lack of latest technology. The fob that comes with it works fine from a normal standing distance. The second "gottcha" is that now additional e-keys "Past the free one" are $1.99 through an in-app purchase. With feedback like yours, and in an effort to improve the overall Kevo experience, we hope the 5 free additional ekeys made available to your account, for a total of 7 ekeys, helped improve your Kevo experience. We also recently just announced that all ekeys are now transferable, including the 2 original ekeys that came with your Kevo as well as any additional ekeys you purchased (and the 5 free ekeys). Transferable ekeys allow you to send an eKey to anyone, retrieve it when you no longer want them to have it and reassign that same eKey to another person. Customer Service Top Notch, and the Product can only get better., November 22, 2013 This review is from: Kwikset Kevo Smart Lock with Keyless Bluetooth Touch to Open Convenience in Satin Nickel (Tools & Home Improvement) --October 2015 Update-- Check below for the original review. I have had 3 of these locks running day in and day out at my own house, my parents house, and my office. They are working great! People still are amazed when I just touch the lock and enter my home. They have since updated to allow my Android phone to work with them so I don't carry the fob around anymore. It works about 95% on the first try, and the other 5% usually just requires a second tap(still quicker than getting out my keys). That is pretty good considered I am using it in 3 different types of environments. For people having issues I would say calibrating it is essential to ensuring a reliable operation of the lock. The locks get a little slow towards the end of the batteries life but that can easily be rectified by a new set of AAs. My parents are not tech savvy and both have the app and the fob on their keys so its rare that they have issues. This product has saved my bacon many times,...
